Scam Alert- Suspicious Callers

The Kenton County Sheriff's Office has received several calls that scammers are again active in our area. In one case, a citizen was told they missed JURY DUTY. Another, the IRS needs to speak to them about an issue immediately. A third example, the CIVIL PROCESS DIVISION needed to speak to them about an issue that arisen.

Government offices will contact you by the US POSTAL SERVICE or IN PERSON -NOT by phone.

One of the telephone numbers that was captured was 859-592-9060. If you "Google" the number it shows as a "SPAM" number in the Covington/Cincinnati area. If you have caller ID, be immediately on guard about numbers you do not recognize the number.

These spammers can sound very professional and can be convincing in their presentations. DO NOT ENGAGE SUSPICIOUS CALLERS! Do not give any type of personal information or confirm any personal information over the phone. Do not give them any type of payment over the phone. Do not agree to meet them. Hang up on them!

To report continued nuisance calls please contact: Kentucky Attorney General Andy Beshear, Office of Consumer Protection at 888-432-9257.
