Scam Alert- "Missed Jury Duty"

Law gavel.

The Kenton County Sheriff's Office is again receiving calls from citizens that "scammers" are making phone calls regarding "missed jury duty".

A scammer's main purpose is to get you to give them money by threatening you with legal action. They will offer to take payment by phone with a credit card or encourage you to purchase a prepaid card and then callback to give them the number on the back. If someone suggests meeting them to hand over cash or a check to "take care of a situation" that should be a clue this is a SCAM!

The Kenton County Sheriff's Office does not call an individual who may have missed jury duty, has a warrant, an outstanding fine, unpaid IRS taxes, or to leave a message to callback about "a problem in your area".

DO NOT ENGAGE SCAM CALLERS! Do not give them any type of personal information. Do not give them any type of payment over the phone. Do not agree to meet them. Hang up on them!

In order to report continued nuisance contact please call the Kentucky Attorney General Andy
Beshear, Office of Consumer Protection at 888-432-9257.
