Scam Alert- Impersonating Kenton County Sheriff's Office

Scam Alert on Post-it note

The Kenton County Sheriff’s Office has been notified that scammers are again trying to take advantage citizens by phone contact.  These individuals identify themselves as being with the Kenton County Sheriff’s Office, provide a callback number of (859) 379-0433 that has a pre-recorded message with seemingly valid office options.

DO NOT BE FOOLED!  Scammers are hoping to prey on fears during this time of uncertainty using old tricks – claims of MISSED JURY DUTY, or OUTSTANDING WARRANTS and then demand payment to “take care of a situation”.

THIS IS A SCAM!  Law enforcement will never call you to demand payment by a RETAIL CREDIT CARD in order to “take care of a situation”.

Hang up on them, look up the telephone number yourself for the agency which supposedly called you and tell them about the scam caller!

DO NOT ENGAGE SCAM CALLERS!  Do not give them any type of personal information.  Do not give them any type of payment over the phone.  Do not agree to meet them.  Hang up on them!

In order to report continued nuisance contact please call the Kentucky Attorney General, Office of Consumer Protection at 888-432-9257.
