Scam Alert - Misrepresenting Themselves

Scam Alert on Post-it note

Scammers are again calling the public misrepresenting themselves as being with the Kenton County Sheriff’s Office in an attempt to get money over the phone.  The individual states he is Lt. Yarboro from the Kenton County Sheriff’s Office.  The most recent number he is using is (859) 474-7750.

The citizens who have contacted our office recognize THIS IS A SCAM!  They KNOW law enforcement will never call to demand payment over the phone.

DO NOT FALL FOR FAKES!   Scammers are hoping to scare you during this time of uncertainty claiming MISSED JURY DUTY or OUTSTANDING WARRANTS and then demand payment in order to “take care of a situation” or to “pay court costs.”

If you question whether a call is real - look up the telephone number yourself for the agency, DO NOT use the number the SCAMMER provides.  In the meantime DO NOT give them any type of personal information.  DO NOT give them any type of payment over the phone.   DO NOT agree to meet them to handover payment.  Hang up on them!

In order to report continued nuisance contact please call the Kentucky Attorney General, Office of Consumer Protection at 888-432-9257.
