Scam Alert on Post-it note

We are again receiving multiple calls from citizens who have been contacted via the phone about a missed court, missed jury duty or unpaid fines.  The Scammer is mimicking the correct police agency phone number on phone displays.

Scammers can be seemingly professional in their attempt to take YOUR MONEY.  Do not give or confirm any type of personal information over the phone.  Do not give them any type of payment over the phone.  Do not agree to meet them.  Hang up on them!

The Scammer can also be very aggressive with threats about “going to jail” and “every cop in the county will be coming for you” or threatening the target with a “72 hour hold”. He has instructed some “not to call anyone” about his call as that would violate a “gag order” issued by the courts. ANYONE can be a target so don’t be duped!

Remember, the Sheriff’s Office will attempt to serve court papers in person – NEVER by phone.  Hang up on suspicious calls and call the agency by a telephone number YOU look up in order to confirm a situation.

To report continued nuisance calls please contact:  Kentucky Attorney General, Office of Consumer Protection at 888-432-9257
