SCAM LETTERS – Tax Resolution Unit, Distraint Warrant

Handing another person an envelope.

The Kenton County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of a scam letter being sent to local citizens, usually businesses presenting as “Tax Resolution Unit, Kenton County”.

There is NO SUCH County agency!

This is not an official letter from Kenton County or any other government agency.  It is an attempt to scare residents into paying a fake tax and supposedly accruing interest.

DO NOT call the telephone number listed on the letter. DO contact the Kentucky Attorney General, Office of Consumer Protection at 888-432-9257 to report the attempted scam.

Remember, be vigilant about possible scams whether they be by phone call, email, text or by letter.   If you are asked for immediate payment to keep a service, avoid a warrant or to stop interest from accumulating reach out to the company by a phone number you would normally use to verify information, don’t redial or use numbers provided in the possible scammer’s contact.
