The caller, sometimes using the name Lt. James Perry says he is from Civil Division of the Kenton County Sheriff’s Office. Now if he receives no response to his voicemails he is sending TEXT messages that indicates to “Please contact civil services at your earliest convenience per request of the Kenton County Clerk of Courts…” The message contains a contact number that is NOT the Kenton County Sheriff’s Office.
Law enforcement WILL NOT CALL you and certainly NOT TEXT you about unpaid fines, missed jury duty or outstanding warrants.
Scammers are looking for every opportunity to come between you and your money. They can be very convincing in their presentation. If you are pressured for immediate payment over the phone reach out directly to the company or agency by a contact number you research. DO NOT redial or use numbers provided by the possible scammer.
DO contact the Kentucky Attorney General, Office of Consumer Protection at 888-432-9257 to report continued attempts of a scam.
